Dr. Jacob Westhoff
Jacob is an assistant professor in the School of Natural Resources at the University of Missouri. He came to the University of Missouri after working five years in the Science Branch of the Missouri Department of Conservation. This real-world professional experience coupled with his background in academia provides him great insight into how science is conducted and applied to improve conservation outcomes. It also provides him with unique perspective to share with students interested in working for government natural resource agencies or academia.
Jacob is also an Assistant Unit Leader of the Missouri Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit. The Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Units Program is focused on providing graduate education in fisheries and wildlife science while providing technical assistance and research capacity for natural resources agencies. The Missouri Coop Unit is a collaboration between the U.S. Geological Survey, the Missouri Department of Conservation, the University of Missouri, and the Wildlife Management Institute.
